Young drivers hit two walls at once: no credit history to speak of, and finance lenders who treat that as risk. Short-term hire sidesteps the first problem — there is no long credit agreement to underwrite — and our partners take a fairer view of drivers at the start of their journey.

No credit history is not the same as bad credit

If you are 19 and have never had a loan or card, finance scoring often has nothing to go on and defaults to "decline". Hire is judged on affordability and ID instead, so a thin or empty credit file is far less of an obstacle. You are not being punished for being young — just matched to a partner who understands it.

Insurance is the bigger cost to plan for

Is there a minimum age?

It depends on the partner and the vehicle; many start at 21, some lower. We will match you to one whose age policy fits.

Does insurance come with it?
